“Augustine!” I hear my Dad called.
“Coming dad!” I shout back and got down stairs and I kiss his cheek.
“What about my good morning kiss?” My older brother Austin says and I chuckled then kiss his cheek.
“Why do you guys want my morning cheek kiss?” I ask teasingly.
“Because the kid next door always brag that “Tine, kiss me again today, it was so great” he always says” My brother Austin says mimicking, Kyle Davis, the 5 year old kid next door.
“You’re jealous of him. Really mature…” I eyed them both.
I have always been surrounded by boys, when I was 4 and Austin was 5, Dad left us and mom did all the hard work. Then came Will, my dad today, he was our rescue.
He pursued mom for a very long time, until I was fond of him too and so was Austin. When he visits us then, I’d always be the first one to ran to him to get a hug, and when he comes at our house, I always called him dad, which I remember my mom warned me a million times to not call him that.
I don’t remember my biological dad, but I saw a picture of him once and every time I ask about him to Austin, he always says, Will is our dad, so I stopped asking. Mom and Will got married, but after 6 months of happy marriage…
Mom then dies, I was 15, she was sick. I thought Will was going to leave us but he didn’t. He took care of us like his own. And I will always love him for that. Too bad Mom and Him didn’t have any children.
“I want your morning kisses because, I got used to it, I have been with you since, you were a baby. I’m a good friend of your mom and you always kiss me on the cheek.” Dad says.
“I know. You old man. You’re clingy as fuck” I say jokingly.
“I may not be your real dad, but language young lady.” He said seriously.
I chuckled “Oh come on, you’re our real dad, you even bought me pads on my first period and you were there even though you both didn’t know what to do. Luckily, Melissa was there to help you.”
“Stop repeating that story!” Austin yelled, me and dad laughed. Austin and him told me when they both bought the pads everyone was looking at them, Austin was so embarrassed.
“Okay, so, I’ll be taking Kyle to school today. See you at school Austie.” I say biting into the sandwich and carrying it with me.
“Ohhh, you’re getting good at cooking, even though you’re filthy rich. I can now live in a dorm; you don’t need me to cook!” I tease my dad and he threw me a lettuce.
I walk out our door and make my way to Kyle’s house, rang the doorbell.
But to my dismay, his Older brother opened the door. Mattias.
“It’s you again.” He says like I’m boring him.
I move past him and found my way to the kitchen.
“Kyle!” I squealed and he jumped into my arms.
“You’re taking me to school today!” he says cheerfully.
“I am!” I say back carrying him to give him a kiss on the cheek and he blushes.
“You know, he said he’s going to marry you someday, Augustine.” Melissa says, their mom. She refuses to be called Aunt and as well as Uncle Derek. They said, it makes them old.
“Well, I’ll be glad to be your wife.” I tell little Kyle as he giggles and put him down, and he ran upstairs.
“Well, welcome to the family then?” I hear Derek says and I chuckled, as he hugs me.
“Good Morning Derek, I’m going to drop Kyle today and go to school.”
“Yes of course, he just went to get his bag” He answers and I nod.
Mom and Melissa were best friends. Sadly, mom passed away because they told me she was sick.
And her and Melissa, was always expecting me and Mattias to be best of friends too. I hated that we have the same special day.And whenever we did celebrate each other’s birthday together, he would always get the chance to irritate me and just do whatever to torment me. That’s why I don’t look forward for our birthday, which they were all planning now, as it is already next month. I despise that day. I really do.
I sighed.
“Oh, will you take Mattias with you too?” Melissa asks.
I groaned and they both chuckled. “Why do you hate each other so much. Me and your mom expected you two be like childhood sweethearts.” Melissa says.
“More like childhood enemy. No offense but I hate him.” I say.
Kyle pulled me out and we went to my car. I drove him to school, and when we both got down, I reminded if of his stuff and food and the time when I’m going to pick him up. He nods, and ran away giving me a flying kiss.
I chuckled to myself and got in the car to get my best friend, and go to school.
“So, will you go to this party tonight?” Nessa, my best friend, asks me.
I shrugged “I don’t know.”
“Oh, come on babe, you have to.” Arms wrapping my shoulders.
“Yeah, Nicolas is right. You have to. You’re the life of the party.” Nessa says.
“Yeah, you should first, get rid of your hands on my sister’s shoulder before I break It myself.” I hear Austin says and Nicolas, scurries away.
I look at Austin and Mattias. No wonder, they’re friends, people are scared of them. Although, Austin is older, him and Mattias get along.
“Don’t you have something to do than to irritate me?” I ask.
“I do have something better to do than to watch you because I find it disgusting.” Mattias says irritatingly.
“I’m not talking to you, jerk. I’m talking to my brother.”
He scoffed and I rolled my eyes.
I sighed “I’m still going to the party.” I tell him.
“I know you will. That’s why, Mattias is going to watch you there.”
“WHAT?!” I screamed and Mattias smirked. “I’m not a kid anymore, Austie!”
“I’m invited to the party anyway, so I told your brother why not?” He says smirking at me.
I huffed and walked away pulling Nessa with me. I know he doesn’t like to do the job but he knows it would irritate me, so he said yes. The nerve of this guy.
“Do I look like a 5-year-old that needs babysitting?” I ask Nessa.
“Oh come on. It’s not that bad, plus, you don’t do stupid shit to make them mad at you. Just be thankful that your brother has some other party to attend to. Mattias watching you is good better than your brother.”
“That’s why you’re my friend. You always know what to say and finds bright side in things.” I tell her smiling.
“Of course. How would you be able to tolerate them if I’m not here?”
I chuckled “But right now, we need to go to class. You know how, Mrs. Dimitri is.”
And we both laughed as we both head to class. After our class, Nessa wanted to come with me.
“Are you sure? I’ll have to pick up Kyle today.”
“Yeah. We pick up Kyle. Pick your clothes at your house and then we go to mine to get dressed.”
“Sounds like a plan then” I say and we drove off.
I picked up Kyle and he brought friends with him to say hi to me, apparently, he’s been bragging about his wife someday.
I smiled at the kids and said hi. After that we went home to drop Kyle off and pick my clothes.
I took two dresses. “So, dad, I’ll be home late or maybe I’ll crash at Nessa’s tonight.”
“Okay, but make sure to tell me what you’re planning tonight, okay? So, that I wouldn’t get worried.” I nod and he kisses my head and went away.
We went to Nessa’s place to get dressed. We're going home, to not remember anything. After that party we got really drunk but that didn’t stop me for planning my birthday. And Dad let me burrow his mansion.
The day of the Birthday.
“So, what are you going to wear tonight?” Nessa asks me.
“Well, that’s for us to decide.” I tell her showing her my Dad’s credit card.
She squealed. “This is why I love you. We could go shopping when we have a special occasion.”
“Of course. This is always you and me. You’re my sister. Forever” I say.
“Let’s get to class first and then we could go shopping after”
We went to class after, but we haven’t seen Nikolas.I just hope, he shows up tonight.
After class, we went to the mall to buy a dress for me and her. We’ll go to my house and then prepare for Family dinner.
“You think Dad would allow me to wear this to the party? I mean, he would allow me to go to dinner wearing this but to the party I doubt.” I tell Nessa.
“Oh gosh. He would definitely make you change but then again, you look fucking gorgeous.” Nessa says looking at me up and down.
“if I’m a guy I would definitely go for you. Even Mattias would drool over you honey.” She says.
I rolled my eyes “Eww. Really, Mattias?”
She chuckled.
“I would never go for Mattias. Even if he is the last guy on earth.” I say.
“Well I wouldn’t go for you either” I hear someone says through the door.
“Stalker much? What the hell are you even doing here Mattias.” I say through the door.
“I just got here, princess. Don’t worry, I didn’t hear you drooling over me. Austin asked me to pick you up here, he’s in the house already.”
“I can manage, thank you very much.”
“I don’t want to be here either, Augustine.”
“Then fucking leave.” I retorted.
“It’s like I have a choice. Didn’t you hear me? I said, your brother asked me to come pick you up here.”
I groaned. Luckily for us. We did our hair and make up first.
I open the door. It’s my first time seeing him in a suit. I bet he is going to change after. He looks good but not good like, I like him good. You know what I mean.
“Let’s go.” I tell him. Me and Nessa went pass him and I assumed he followed. Well, who cares anyway?
We went to their house and I see everyone already sat down waiting for me Maybe.
When my Dad saw me, he stood up and walked towards me.
“You look beautiful, Augustine.” He says “But you definitely should change if you’re going to the party after.”
“Dad” I whined.
He chuckled “Okay fine. But just this once.”
I smiled “Thank you Dad.”
He then escorted my and Nessa to sit down at the dinner table. We ate dinner and talked about a lot. We laughed and reminisced.
“Okay, it’s almost time.” Mattias said.
“Before you go. Me and your Uncle, wants you to have this.” Melissa handed me a box, an old box.
I took it and opened it. “Melissa, you shouldn’t have.” I tell her, it was a pair of earrings.
“Before you say you can’t accept it. I should tell you that it was your Mom’s. She gave it to me, so that I could pass it to you.”
A tear escaped my eyes.
“Thank you.” I say.
“Go on, dear. Wear it.” She says smiling at me. While Derek is also holding her hand.
After that, everyone else also gave their gifts. My brother Austin, gifted me a book, which I also did love. I would read this again.
The thing is every year, he would give me a book, a certain novel for my age every year and every year I get something from it.
Mattias, didn’t give me anything, well as usual. But I have something for him.
“Here.” I tell him, handing him a mini box.
“What’s this?” he asks.
I rolled my eyes “Open it for you to know.”
Then he opens it. A keychain with a key on it. He raised his eyebrows.
“Well, it’s our birthday. And also, our Last birthday before we go to our separate ways, so I thought why not?”
“No fucking way.” He says.
“Yes. I also did ask Melissa if you can use it and she said she’s fine with it.”
He suddenly ran out, in-front of their house. There it was. A brand-new motorcycle, the one that he always wanted.
I don’t regret giving him it. Even though he didn’t give me anything.
“Oh my gosh. We should leave now though.” He says smirking at the motorcycle.
“Well, it’s already time.” I say.
I say good bye to my dad and Austin.
“But you don’t ride on that thing.” Dad says and I nod.
“I’ll drive my car Daddy.” I say.
Then suddenly, a car honked in-front. We all looked and then someone went down from the car.
I ran to him and he hugged me.
“You didn’t think I would forget, did you?”
